Set the standard once
It suits investors who already know what they want from a loan — which Loan Originators, what term, what rate — and would rather apply that standard automatically than re-decide it every time a new loan appears.
Set your criteria, loan term, interest range, and Loan Originators once, and Hive5 allocates matching investments automatically.
Using Auto Invest P2P lending is a way to set the rules for your own automated investing, without AI. Auto-Invest is rules-based and not AI-driven, and no one else is going to judge your rules or change them once you’ve set them.
This means that you’re completely in control of the investments that you make, while removing the need for manual investing. Auto Invest gives you a way to ensure that your funds are allocated automatically, but only to those investments that fit your criteria.
Reviewing new loans and deciding whether to invest takes time, and manual decisions drift: a slightly higher rate looks tempting one week, a check gets skipped the next. Auto Invest removes that inconsistency. Once your criteria are set, every matching loan is treated the same way, whether you're watching the marketplace or not.
It suits investors who already know what they want from a loan — which Loan Originators, what term, what rate — and would rather apply that standard automatically than re-decide it every time a new loan appears.
If you'd rather weigh up each opportunity individually before committing funds, the marketplace lets you invest manually instead.
Before you decide whether to use Auto Invest, you’ll want to know exactly what it involves. The following sections take you through the full process of passive income investing.
The first step is to decide what criteria you want to set. The following are the main areas to make decisions on.
Once you’ve set your criteria, the next step is for the Auto Invest engine to look through the marketplace to find matches.
To qualify, a loan has to meet every one of the criteria that you set. If it doesn’t, it will move on without allocating any funds to that loan. After that, the next loan is assessed, and the process continues until no more loans are available or all the funds are allocated.
The per-loan amount and other limits that you set earlier are now used to ensure that all allocated funds meet the limits that you’re comfortable with.
This process continues until all of the available loans have been assessed or your funds have been fully allocated.
By activating the Reinvest option, you enable the platform to use any repaid capital and earned interest to match new investments. The same strategy that was used to allocate funds in the previous steps will be used unless you stop it.
Important: Auto Invest executes your rules without exception and without judgment. It does not check whether those rules suit your financial situation or risk tolerance — that stays with you.
Every automated feature has a boundary, and honesty about where that boundary sits matters more than the automation itself. Auto Invest executes the rules you set, without exception and without judgment — it does not do any of the following:
It searches the marketplace for you.
Once you’ve set your criteria, the Auto Invest engine looks through the marketplace to find matches.
It only funds loans that meet every criterion.
To qualify, a loan has to meet every one of the criteria that you set. If it doesn’t, Auto Invest moves on without allocating any funds to that loan.
It keeps every allocation within your limits.
The per-loan amount and other limits that you set are used to ensure that all allocated funds meet the limits that you’re comfortable with.
It keeps going until your funds are allocated.
The process continues until all of the available loans have been assessed or your funds have been fully allocated.
It can reinvest repayments automatically.
With Reinvest on, any repaid capital and earned interest is used to match new investments, using the same strategy until you stop it.
No suitability check is carried out.
Auto Invest does not assess whether your criteria are appropriate for your financial situation or risk tolerance; that judgment stays with you.
There is no independent review of the Loan Originators you select.
Hive5 makes them available on the platform; it does not vet, rank, or endorse them beyond that, so the choice of which to include is yours.
Diversification and returns are never guaranteed.
Setting a wide range of criteria doesn't guarantee your funds spread across many loans or originators, and no rate range guarantees a particular outcome.
Full allocation of your funds is not guaranteed.
If the marketplace doesn't have enough loans that match your criteria at a given time, some or all of your funds can sit uninvested.
It won't unwind an investment that later falls outside your criteria.
Once a loan is funded, a change to your rules applies only to future matches, not to positions you already hold.
These aren't gaps we're hoping you won't notice. They're the line between what Auto Invest automates and what stays a decision only you can make — and knowing exactly where that line is is what lets you use the feature with confidence.
In this example, we can see how the investor has set a series of limits and chosen two originators.
It’s possible to run multiple strategies at the same time, giving you the opportunity to set different limits as a way of diversifying your approach.
Once you set up a P2P lending strategy, you can’t edit it if you change your mind. When you decide that you want to change your strategy, you need to cancel it, which is a permanent move. After that, you can then decide whether you want to set up a new strategy to replace it.
The Buyback Obligation comes into effect if a borrower is more than 60 days late in paying. In this case, the Loan Originator executes an automatic buyback so that the investor receives the principal plus interest for the full delayed period, as we can see here in the How it Works section.
To leave a position before it reaches maturity, you can use the secondary market to look for another investor to buy it from you.
