The P2P Secondary Market is a marketplace that allows investors to buy and sell active claim rights that have been issued on the Hive5 platform. It provides the possibility of an early exit before the maturity date, meaning that existing investors have access to liquidity and new buyers are able to purchase established assets. There are no buy or sell fees, with the full remaining claim rights transferred for the outstanding value.
The process of selling an active investment on the Hive5 Secondary Market is carried out over three short steps. The way you purchase existing claim rights from other investors is just as simple.
SELLING
Head to Portfolio and then Current investments from your account dashboard.
Choose the investment that you want to transfer and click on Sell.
After reviewing the position and the balance, you should confirm the listing so that potential buyers can see the claim rights immediately.
BUYING
Go to Investment and then Secondary Market, where you’ll see all of the currently active listings.
After browsing the options, you can select one that interests you. Make sure that your account wallet has sufficient funds to meet the purchase price. Investors are unable to buy their own listings, while listings can only be bought once.
Once you confirm the transaction and it completes, full ownership of the claim rights is transferred to your portfolio.
If your goals change, this process means that you no longer have to wait until maturity to unlock cash and rebalance your portfolio. In terms of Primary Market vs Secondary Market, this gives you more flexibility to switch positions early.
If you identify a new opportunity, you might feel that it makes sense to exit an existing position early to take advantage of it.
This means that you don’t need to wait for a new investment to become available and can put your capital to work right away.
When you list an investment for sale, there is no guarantee that a buyer will arrive to help you exit the position quickly. Transfers depend entirely on there being another investor who chooses to buy the claim rights, meaning that no timeline for the exit can be guaranteed.
It’s also important to note that buying or selling claim rights on the Secondary Market doesn’t alter the underlying risk profile of this type of investment. Your capital is at risk, and returns are not guaranteed, as with all peer-to-peer investments made on Hive5.
